Alga Candle Holder Set White Bronze

Seaweed fronds drifting in water gave Osanna Visconti the form for the Alga, the candelabra series in which her jeweller’s training first moved into sculptural bronze. This set is cast in white bronze, a pale, silvery alloy that takes a cooler light than natural bronze. It brings together four candle holders of one, two, three and six arms, so the stems can be arranged from a single frond to a small thicket. Each begins as wax modelled by hand in Milan, then passes through the lost wax technique at an Italian foundry. Because every cast keeps the slight asymmetry of the sculpted original, each piece is one-of-a-kind. The set is produced in a limited series of 80. Grouped along a dining table, console or mantel, it suits interiors where the table itself is the composition.
