The Enso Box pairs cast bronze with white selenite, a translucent gypsum crystal named by the Greeks for its moonlike sheen. The name Enso refers to the Japanese Zen circle drawn in a single, unbroken gesture — a symbol of the mind at rest and of creation happening without hesitation. Selenite is soft and structured in fine parallel layers, cut and finished slowly to avoid fracturing its crystalline planes, then set against the density and patina of bronze. The pairing reflects Gustavo Neves’ broader practice, in which raw, unpolished materials keep the character of the ground they came from, worked with minimal intervention. Handmade in Brazil in an edition of 8 pieces plus 4 artist’s proofs, each box is signed and numbered. Its scale suits a console, a desk, or a low table, positioned where light can pass through the stone.
