This bowl’s form takes the fig leaf’s irregular lobes and pronounced veining and renders them in gilded brass, continuing Goossens’ long-standing interest in botanical and organic subjects as source material for gilt bronze work — a language the maison built up under Robert Goossens, working in gilt metal and rock crystal for the great couture houses of the 1950s. Harumi Klossowska de Rola, who grew up immersed in her father Balthus’s world of animals and objects, brings that same instinct for the organic to her collaborations with Goossens, now part of Chanel’s Le19M métiers d’art. The result reads less as tableware than as a small botanical study, its uneven contour and warm gilt surface suited to a console or dressing table, where it can hold rings, keys, or simply catch the light.
