Iris Side Table

On the Iris Side Table, each flower is modelled by hand in ceramic, its petals shaped one by one and glazed in layered shades of blue, streaked with white and touched with yellow at the centre to define the flower’s beard. Small white blossoms nestle between them along a steel structure conceived as a bundle of stems, branching into three splayed feet below and rising to a scalloped rim formed from doubled tubing above. Hand-painted in mottled greens, the metal takes on the depth and variation of living stems.

Laclaux draws on the painted tolework and ceramic florals of mid-century Italian decorative arts, a tradition that continues to inspire artisans in Italy today. An amber mirror adds warmth to the scene, tinting everything it reflects. Sized for a bedside, a dressing room or beside an armchair, the table brings a touch of fantasy to a classical interior.
