Campbell-Rey is the London design studio of Duncan Campbell and Charlotte Rey, whose world is one of conviviality, colour, and exceptional craftsmanship, drawing equally on Scandinavian restraint and the theatrical elegance of mid-century Milan.
The Magdalena Mirror, designed by Campbell-Rey, is a modern reinterpretation of a Queen Anne chinoiserie mirror, its undulating silhouette softened into a shape that feels both antique and entirely new. Duncan Campbell and Charlotte Rey conceived it to work equally well as an overmantel above a fireplace or a slender pier mirror between two windows, an object that plays with historical grandeur while remaining light enough for contemporary rooms.
Realised with a hardwood frame, the mirror’s border is hand-painted in a faux tortoiseshell trompe-l’oeil finish, each shell pattern applied stroke by stroke to mimic the warm mottling of real tortoiseshell, then sealed beneath a glossy lacquer that catches the light. Bespoke dimensions are available upon request, allowing the Magdalena to be scaled from an intimate powder room to a grand entrance hall.
