Mountain Climber Lamp by Garance Vallée

Olivier Garcé and Clio Dimofski opened Garcé & Dimofski’s studio and gallery in a 19th-century Pombaline building in Lisbon. They bring a rigorous, architectural eye to furniture that never strays far from the earth it comes from — chestnut, walnut, pine and clay, shaped by hand with Portuguese craftsmen who have spent lifetimes mastering their materials.

Mountain Climber, designed with Garance Vallée for Garcé & Dimofski Gallery, is cast in a powdery white enamel that mutes the light passing through it to something closer to chalk dust than glass, giving the lamp its soft, almost topographic presence on a desk or console. Its irregular form is meant to be read from every angle, so it rewards being placed where it can be walked around.
