Rotin & Fleurs Charger Plate

Around the plain white well of Laclaux’s Rotin & Fleurs Charger Plate, short lengths of painted cane radiate like the spokes of a wheel, their shaded edges suggesting the rounded form of each strand. Two continuous canes hold the segments in place. At the top, the inner cane rises and loops back on itself, recalling the way rattan is bent and doubled at the joints of a chair frame. A fine brown line accents each node, deepening the honeyed tone and preserving the impression of texture even from a distance. Used as a charger, the plate remains in place throughout the meal, its rim visible around the dinner and dessert plates of the Jardin d’Hiver service, bringing the table setting together. It can also be hung on a wall, alone or grouped with other pieces from the collection.
