The Silver Bookcase designed by Willy Rizzo carries the eye of a man who spent his first career behind a camera, photographing Marilyn Monroe, Picasso and the jet set for Paris Match before turning, in 1966, to furniture. Rizzo brought a photographer’s instinct for glamour and proportion to Modernist forms inspired by Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier, building pieces sturdy enough to anchor a room and polished enough to catch the light like a portrait.
Signed and numbered like every Rizzo original, this bookcase is built entirely from polished stainless steel, its planes catching light the way a photographer frames a highlight. The metal’s cool, mirrored surface turns a simple storage piece into a sculptural presence, born from the same Tivoli workshop where Rizzo’s small team once grew to one hundred and fifty craftsmen producing his 1970s furniture line.
